Welcome to emmaritchie.ca. By accessing this website or enrolling in tap dance classes offered through this platform, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. General Website Terms

  • Acceptable Use: You agree to use this website for lawful purposes only and in a manner that does not infringe upon the rights of, or restrict the use of this site by, any third party.
  • Intellectual Property: All content on this website—including text, graphics, logos, choreography videos, images, and audio clips—is the property of Emma Ritchie unless otherwise stated and is protected by copyright laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or modify any content without prior written permission.
  • Website Changes: We reserve the right to modify, update, or discontinue any part of the website or its content at any time without notice.

2. Class Registration & Payments

  • Continuous Enrollment: Registration for tap classes, workshops, or private lessons is subject to availability and is confirmed only upon receipt of payment (or agreed payment plan). Student registration automatically rolls over from one block to the next to secure your spot in class.
  • Pricing & Fees: All prices for classes, packages, or drop-ins are listed in Canadian Dollars (CAD) unless specified otherwise. Prices are subject to change, but changes will not affect bookings already confirmed.
  • Payment Options: Block payments are typically made as one lump sum. Alternatively, you can request to pay monthly through the registration form. If you choose the monthly option, a separate email will be sent to you with details regarding the payment breakdown and specific monthly deadlines.
  • Payment Methods: Block payments can be made in full as a single lump sum or paid monthly. Accepted payment methods are cash or e-transfer. Credit card payments are not accepted at this time.
  • Payment Due Dates: Block payments are due on the following dates:
    • Fall Block: September 1
    • Winter Block: December 29
    • Spring Block: March 23

3. Unregistering, Cancellations, Refunds & Absences

  • Unregistration Notice: If you wish to unregister or opt out of an upcoming block, notice must be provided in writing at least 2 weeks before the Block start date. If written notice is not received within this timeframe, payment for the upcoming block remains due.
  • Student Cancellations: Cancellations made up to [7] days before the start of a session are eligible for a full refund/credit. Cancellations made after this period are non-refundable.
  • Instructor Cancellations: If a class is canceled due to instructor illness, emergency, or venue issues, we will offer a makeup class, class credit, or a prorated refund for that session.
  • Missed Classes: No refunds or credits are issued for missed classes due to personal scheduling conflicts, illness, or absence. (Makeup options may be offered at the instructor’s discretion).

4. Health, Safety & Physical Activity Disclaimer

  • Assumption of Risk: Tap dance is a physical activity. By participating in classes, you acknowledge that dance involves inherent physical risks. You voluntarily assume all risks of injury, illness, or damage associated with your participation.
  • Fitness to Participate: You confirm that you (or the student you are registering, if under 18) are in good physical health and free from any medical condition that would prevent safe participation in tap dance classes.
  • Injuries & Liability: Emma Ritchie is not liable for any personal injury, loss, or damage to personal property sustained on the way to, during, or after class, whether in-person or virtual.

5. Media & Photo Release

  • From time to time, photos or videos may be taken during classes or performances for promotional, educational, or website use.
  • If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed (or do not wish for your enrolled minor to be), please inform the instructor in writing prior to the start of the class.

6. Code of Conduct

  • We are committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all dancers. Respectful behavior toward the instructor and fellow students is required at all times.
  • We reserve the right to decline service or dismiss a student from class (without refund) for disruptive, disrespectful, or unsafe behavior.

7. Severability & Non-Waiver

  • No Waiver: If we choose not to enforce or exercise any specific provision or right within these Terms and Conditions at any time (e.g., granting an exception to a payment or unregistration deadline), this does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision in the future, nor does it affect our right to enforce it later.
  • Severability: If any single provision or section of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable under applicable law, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

8. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Alberta / Canada, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
